This class is a preview to our "Spanish Language & Culture for Healthcare Providers" series. Join us to learn how fun and pain-free learning medical Spanish can be! Students will learn greetings, survival phrases and more. No previous Spanish experience required.

REGISTER EARLY – SAVE 10%

With an emphasis on conversation skills, this 10-week course is designed for students who have never learned Spanish and to those who have taken Spanish but need a refresher with medical terminology and usage. Experienced instructors guide students in designing phrases and personalized scripts to communicate in their clinical setting. Each class incorporates a cultural discussion to help students better understand how to work with Spanish-speaking patients. Small class size maximizes personalized attention. This 10-week course is designed to build on the vocabulary and grammar taught in the Level 1 course. While continuing to practice conversation skills, students participate in activities to increase listening comprehension. "An Introduction to Professional Medical Interpreting"

Designed for novice and experienced interpreters, this interactive program provides insight into language accommodation mandates, the 4 roles of a medical interpreter, techniques to facilitate communication and the Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the National Council for Interpreting in Health Care.

Target audience: Medical interpreters of any language pair, bilingual health care providers (dual role interpreters), language students

"Basic Functional Spanish for Healthcare Providers"
Grand Rapids, Lansing, & Kalamazoo

Option 1: Friday, February 17, 2012 9am-1pm
Option 2: Friday, April 6, 2012 9am- 1pm

This introduction to Spanish class allows students to learn medical terminology and phrases to ask standard questions and provide basic instructions. Students learn to use templates to tailor phrases and scripts for personal use. This is a great class if you are unsure if you want to commit to a longer course or if you question your ability to learn a foreign language. We will show you how fun and easy learning medical Spanish can be!

Target audience: Healthcare providers & support staff (physicians, nurses, social workers, receptionists, etc.) from inpatient or outpatient settings.
