"Spanish Language & Culture for Healthcare Providers" - Level 1 *

Nearly 100 of these 10-week courses have been taught around Michigan in the past 11 years. With an emphasis on conversation skills, the curriculum is useful to students who have never learned Spanish and to those who have taken Spanish but need a refresher with medical terminology and usage. Students use critical thinking to design phrases and personalized scripts to communicate in their clinical setting. Each class also incorporates a cultural discussion to help students better understand how to work with Spanish-speaking patients. Up to 20 CME's are available for physicians.
Pre-requisite: None
Target audience: Healthcare providers with no Spanish experience or those who have taken Spanish classes and wish to learn medical terminology and usage.

This 10-week course is designed to build on the vocabulary and grammar taught in the Level 1 course. While continuing to practice conversation skills, students participate in activities to increase listening comprehension. Cultural discussions allow students to analyze their personal and organizational interaction with Spanish-speaking patients in order to improve care. Up to 20 CME's are available for physicians.
Pre-requisite: "Spanish Language & Culture for Healthcare Providers - Level 1"
Target audience: Healthcare providers with a basic foundation in medical Spanish who wish to further their conversation and listening comprehension skills

"Basic Functional Spanish for Healthcare Providers"
February 20 (Saturday) |  10am – 2pm

Description: This introduction to Spanish class allows students to learn medical terminology and phrases to ask standard questions and provide basic instructions. No grammar is taught, rather participants learn to use templates to tailor phrases and scripts for personal use. This is a great class if you are unsure if you want to commit to a longer course or if you question your ability to learn a foreign language. We will show you how fun and easy learning medical Spanish can be!
